A local fraternal order has donated more than £1,300 to a national cancer charity.
The St Albans and District Provincial Grand Lodge of the Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes (RAOB) has collected the money from various fundraisers throughout 2017.
Members of the organisation presented a cheque to Cancer Research UK at the Waverley Sports and Social Club earlier this month.
Assistant manager of the Cancer Research shop in St Albans, Jo Willcox, said: “I just think it’s absolutely amazing, these guys could have given it to any charity and it was just wonderful that they chose us.
“This money will go towards all our research.”
At the cheque presentation, volunteer Steve Lindsay spoke passionately about the charity’s aims and initiatives.
The RAOB is a former secretive society founded by theatre hands in 1822, but which now exists to raise charitable donations.
