ST ALBANS restaurant Chilli Raj has been voted the public’s favourite restaurant at the Oaklands College’s World of Food Festival held last month.

Visitors to the festival, held on the lawns of the college’s Smallford campus, had over 20 restaurants to choose from, with cuisine varying from Caribbean to Indian, but in the end, the family-run restaurant in Stanhope Road won them over.

Kashim Abdul, who co-owns the restaurant with his brother and was brought up in St Albans, said: “This is such an honour for us and fantastic news considering the number of restaurants that took part in the festival. It also gives the staff a great boost for all their hard work and effort to be recognised.”

Mark Dawe, Oaklands College Chief Executive and Principal, added: “The World of Food Festival was a great success and I am delighted to be able to give this award to Chilli Raj.”
