The Royal Bank of Scotland has applied to refit its closed branch on St Peter’s Street in St Albans.
RBS has asked St Albans council for permission to carry out a number of tasks, including removing the cash machine, night safe and branded fascia.
The site, at Lockey House, is in a conservation area. The branch closed in August this year, one of 162 RBS branches which shut when a merger deal fell through.
When asked, RBS did not comment on what their plans were for the site, simply saying the site had been returned to the landlord, whom they did not name.
The application is out for consultation so St Albans council is allowing members of the public to have their say. If you wish to comment on the proposals, visit the St Albans council website and search for planning reference number 5/2018/1313.
All comments must reach the council by September 26 and must include the planning reference number.
