A number of Thameslink trains running through St Albans have been delayed or cancelled either due to congestion on the lines or a vehicle hitting a bridge earlier today.

According to the Thameslink website, all eight services calling at St Albans between 5.50pm and 6.20pm were either cancelled or delayed.

The train operator states online that this is because of a vehicle hitting a bridge earlier today, although Thameslink does not specify exactly where.

The 18:03 from St Albans to Sutton was listed as cancelled, as was the 18:06 service to Sutton along with the 18:12 service to Brighton.

The 18:34 service to Gatwick is no longer calling at St Albans or Harpenden because of “congestion”.
