ANTI rail freight demonstrators turned out in force outside St Albans council offices this morning to protest at the start of the public inquiry.

Waving placards of protest they came together outside the council offices half an hour before the inquiry began to show the strength of feeling against the massive scheme to build a rail freight depot on the former Radlett Airfield.

Developers Helioslough have appealed for the second time against the district council's decision to refuse their application for the site. The inquiry is expected to last for several weeks.
