A 15-year-old girl from St Albans has been offered a place at a performing arts school in Los Angeles.
Alice Jones, who is in Year 10 at Beaumont School, had the chance to audition for The Young Americans College of the Performing Arts when her performing arts school visited LA for the Dance Excellence festival.
St Albans-based performing arts school NSG, which Alice attends, submitted an audition video for Dance Excellence, and were chosen to represent London, England as one of 30 schools chosen from around the world.
Eleven dancers took part in the trip, accompanied by the company’s directors Nick and Sophie Green. A few dancers from the festival auditioned for the Young Americans, and Alice was the only non-American to be offered a place.
She said: “I was really shocked - I wasn’t expecting it at all. I’ve been dancing since Year 7 or 8 so three years.”
