SERVICES across the St Albans district are being hit today (Wednesday) as public sector workers take part in a nationwide strike over pensions and changes to working conditions.

The majority of schools across the area are either closed or partly closed and picket lines have been set up outside St Albans City Hospital and St Albans District Council offices.

A picket line has also been set up outside Rothamstead Research in Harpenden.
