COLLECTION bins for the recycling of Christmas cards have been installed across the St Albans district in a bid to reduce the amount of festive waste going into landfill sites.
Twelve locations, including the district council offices, the Alban Arena and Harpenden Public Halls and various points in the villages, will take cards until the end of January.
Full details of the Christmas card recycling points are on the Council’s website at: http://bit.ly/vXa7r6.
The council will also recycle Christmas trees if they are small enough to fit in the green bins. The trunk and branches must be no wider than a broom handle and the lid to the bin must be shut.
Trees can also be taken to the local household waste site for composting and some garden centres, including Aylett Nurseries, will collect and chip them for a small fee.
