THE GENEROSITY of schoolchildren at a St Albans primary saw them fill 150 shoe boxes for children in need overseas.

Skyswood Primary School made the impressive contribution to this year’s Operation Christmas Child Shoe Box Appeal run by Samaritan’s Purse.

Using their imagination, pupils filled the boxes with gifts as well as essential toiletries.

The School Council led the project which began with a special assembly delivered to the whole school during which they were shown a DVD that captured the impact the shoe boxes and their contents have on the children receiving them.

The assembly was delivered by two volunteers with the charity, but they were invited by the School Council who also went on to help out with the local sorting process at Colney Heath Church.

Headteacher Bob Bridle praised the pupils for leading the initiative and making such a “tremendous contribution to a very worthy cause.”
