St Albans primary school PTA investigated by police
A police investigation is underway at a St Albans primary school following allegations of theft from the PTA accounts.
Money was stolen from Prae Wood Primary’s PTA (PWSA) accounts between April and September this year.
A 31-year-old man from Borehamwood has been spoken to by police as part of their ongoing investigation. No-one has yet been charged.
Parents at the school were notified recently about what the school described as ‘discrepancies’ in the finances.
A letter sent out to parents read: “We are writing to inform you that discrepancies have been identified in the PWSA Bank Accounts and these are being investigated. We cannot discuss the details of this at the moment while investigations are ongoing.
“There are no concerns about the events planned for this term and in the future, and until other arrangements can be made the payments to the PWSA will come via the school.”
Jackie Stephenson, headteacher at Prae Wood primary, confirmed to the Herts Advertiser that a police investigation was ongoing but she could not comment any further.
