The Liberal Democrat is working with her party’s MPs on behalf of the Women Against State Pension Inequality (WASPI), supporting women who had their pensions delayed when the eligible age was equalised with men.

She said: “This is a huge injustice that must be resolved urgently.

“Some of the stories are heartbreaking. Women who took early retirement or caring responsibilities have struggled to return to the workplace. “One woman who has battled cancer told me she has been left living on the bread line. The financial hardship they suffer is unforgivable.

“I have passed those statements to Lib Dem MPs who are speaking in a parliamentary debate this week.”
