NO local off licences are among those which will close following the collapse of chain First Quench Retailing.

The joint administrators of the group, whose outlets include Threshers, Wine Rack and Victoria Wine, announced the closure of 373 of the 1,200 stores up and down the country, which will result in over 1,730 redundancies.

It has just been revealed which stores will close, but none in the St Albans district, including Threshers in Chiswell Green and Wine Rack in Marshalswick, are among the number.

Richard Fleming, of joint administrator KPMG, said: "The remaining stores will continue to be traded as usual while we seek a buyer. So far, we have received considerable interest in the business from a range of buyers, including trade, individual investors and private equity. The remaining stores are trading well and we believe they present an attractive investment. We are confident of securing a sale in the coming weeks.
