St Albans Oaklands College Student dies in motorcyle crash

A 20-year-old motorcyclist has died after colliding with a van last Thursday.
Jack Alexander, who studied at Oaklands College, was on his Yamaha YZFR6 motorbike when he collided with a Volkswagen Transporter van on the B656 Royston Road in Baldock last Thursday (17).
Police, ambulance, and air ambulance crews were called to the incident at 7.45am, but Jack was pronounced dead at the scene.
Jack, who lived in Stotfold, studied mechanical engineering at the Smallford campus of the college.
A spokesperson for Oaklands said: ““We are all deeply shocked to hear this tragic news. Jack will be sorely missed by his fellow students and staff. Our thoughts are with his family and friends and this difficult time.”
A Facebook page has been set up in memory of Jack, and many have taken to the site to express condolences.
Friend Adam Croft wrote: “RIP brother, gone but never forgotten. Was never just a friend to me you was always family. Just wish I had the chance to say goodbye! Rest in peace bruva.”
Charlotte Bedford posted: “Still can’t get my head around this, you never expect it to happen to someone you know and have spent four years with at school. Rest in peace angel, sleep tight.”
William Howe said: “RIP Jacky boy. Miss having my drinking buddy, the only person who could keep up. Hope you’re having fun up there...hold tight.”
