England’s patron saint, St George, showed who was boss when he managed to overcome a new fiery Dragon, a Turkish Knight and a Giant in the annual Boxing Day Mummers play.
The St Albans Mummers have been performing the Time Honoured Mask of St George and the Dragon at five locations around St Albans city centre on Boxing Day since 1967.
The play is based on one originally performed and recently revived in Croxley Green. Audiences now span three generations which make the play a traditional part of Christmas celebrations despite the cold and sometimes wet weather.
This Boxing Day, the Mummers were joined by three new cast members following a successful recruitment drive earlier in the year.
