LOCAL residents are being asked to leave their cars in their driveways on Tuesday, September 22, and find alternative ways to travel for World Carfree Day.

The global initiative has been adopted by St Albans Council in an attempt to promote more environmentally-friendly methods of transport such as walking, cycling and lift sharing.

The event will be marked by a small market outside the Town Hall from 10am to 4pm featuring groups such as St Albans Cycling Campaign, Liftshare, The Sustainability Team and retailer Addiktion Cycles.

Keen cyclists can also enjoy the prospect of a free breakfast from Tasty Bites burger van if they turn up to the event between 10am and 12noon.
