A MOTORCYCLIST was hospitalised after a deer ran out in front of him along a dual carriageway and caused him to crash.

Ambulance crews were called to the scene on the A414 between London Colney and Park Street just after 6pm on Sunday.

A police spokesperson said that it appears that the motorcyclist, who is from St Albans and was riding a black Suzuki GSF 600, hit a muntjack deer, which died in the incident, before going into the crash barriers and sustaining serious injuries.

Ambulance service spokesman Gary Sanderson said: “A motorcyclist who we believe to be in his 40s came off his bike on the carriageway and received injuries to his abdomen, shoulder and wrist. Paramedics treated and stabilised him at the roadside before he was taken to Watford General Hospital.”
