A CHARITY dinner was held by the Mayor of St Albans, Cllr Aislinn Lee, on Sunday, to help raise funds for her chosen charities.

The dinner was held at Kashu and raised 1,450 for Sure Start St Albans and St Albans and Hertsmere Women’s Refuge (SAHWR).

The Mayor said: “I was overwhelmed to see how much money we raised at my first charity event. I still cannot believe the depth of [the guests’] generosity and I thank them with all my heart.”

She also thanked the local retailers who donated prizes for the raffle and the pupils from St Albans Girls’ School, who offered their support on the evening by selling raffle tickets and collecting money.

“Whilst collecting the prizes, I was impressed by the exceptional generosity of local traders in their support of the two charities,” said Cllr Lee. “The list of prizes is far too large to name everyone who supported us but, their commitment to the community they serve will always be appreciated.”
