St Albans’ mayor has said he was “honoured” to present certificates to teenagers who raised £25K for charity.
On Sunday, September 24, Cllr Mohammad Iqbal Zia gave certificates signed by the Prime Minister to 451 young people from the National Citizen Service (NCS).
Cllr Zia said: “The National Citizen Service is a great scheme that offers young people from a variety of backgrounds an opportunity to develop their skills for work and life, meet new friends and help the local community.”
Of the Alban Arena ceremony, he said: “I was honoured to present certificates to the young people who graduated from the scheme after four-weeks of outdoor activities, workshops and volunteering.
“I was amazed by how well they rose to challenge of contributing to the local community. I wish them all a successful future.”
