A ST Albans man was sentenced to 27 months imprisonment last Wednesday, January 11, after pleading guilty to a sexual offence involving a girl aged 13.
Twenty-year-old John Reid, of Radlett Road, who was 19 at the time of the offence, was charged with sexual activity with a child. It occurred on November 1, 2010, at an address in St Albans.
Reid has also been placed on the sex offenders register for ten years and has been given a Sexual Offences Prevention order stopping him from having any contact with children.
Pc Liz Heath, from the Sexual Offences Investigation Unit, said: “This man took advantage of a child who was in a vulnerable state and I am pleased that he has been given a prison sentence.
“It takes real courage for victims of these types of offences to come forward but I hope that this sentence shows that we will investigate these crimes and bring those responsible to justice.”
