A YOUNG man had his jaw broken when he was robbed as he walked home from the train station one night last week.

The 20 year old was walking along Lemsford Road in St Albans just after midnight on Wednesday (Nov 4) when two thieves stole his wallet, mobile phone and iPod.

He had become aware that he was being followed and one of the robbers overtook him before bending down to tie up his shoelaces. The man then asked the victim for a cigarette before punching him with such a force that he broke his jaw.

The second attacker demanded that he hand over his belongings before they both fled the scene and ran towards Hatfield Road and the train station.

Both robbers are thought to be in their early 20s and were wearing hooded tops with the hoods up. The first man was described as white, about 6ft tall with blonde/brown hair and wearing a grey top with white tracksuit bottoms and trainers.

His accomplice is thought to be slightly taller and was wearing a black top, black trousers and trainers.

Investigating officer, DC Zoe Austwick, said: "This was a very distressing ordeal for the victim to have gone through and I would like to speak to anyone who recognises the men described or witnessed the incident take place."
