A man has been arrested and over £35,000 seized following a raid at an address in the city.

Officers from Operation Scorpion, Intervention, Safer Neighbourhood, the Local Crime Unit and the Beds, Cambs and Herts Tri-Force Dog Unit entered the property in Chiswell Green Lane on Wednesday (March 4) at 6.45am following reports of possible human trafficking.

Though no offences of trafficking were discovered, over £35,000 in cash was found and a 33-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of criminal property.

He has been released on bail until April 8 2015.

DI Pete Frost from St Albans Local Crime Unit, said: “Its warrants like this that highlight the value of community engagement with the local police and I’d like to encourage more people to report anything suspicious to us.

“Police will continue to take a robust approach against all those that commit crime in St Albans and warrants such as this will continue to be executed.

“By working together we can continue to make the St Albans a safer place to live and deter people from being involved in criminal activity.”

If you suspect anyone of human trafficking or other offences contact police on the non-emergency number 101 or 999 in an emergency.
