A HOVERCRAFT racer from St Albans brought home a silver medal last week after an amazing performance at the World Hovercraft Racing Championships.
Nick Drew, 33 (pictured above on the podium receiving his medal and competing in the event), has been racing hovercraft all his life but achieved a personal best last week when he won his first ever race and made it on to the podium.
Nick, of Oakwood Drive, said: βIt means an awful lot to win silver and it shows me that I can win and that I can perform. I won the race on a craft that I had built, so that gives me confidence in my ability to design and construct a winning craft, as well as believe that I am up there with the best racers.β
The Championships were held in Towcester and ran from Tuesday to Sunday. Competitors travelled from Australia, America, Canada, Poland, Sweden, France, Germany and Italy to take part in the bi-annual event. The five-day event included practice rounds, time trials and races.
