A St Albans hotel has been praised after providing a room for an elderly woman without charge following flooding at her home.
Firefighters from St Albans were called to the scene last night.
They tweeted: “Blue watch attended a flooding last night [Friday].
“It left an elderly lady with no water and no heating.
“Concerned for her welfare the crew walked across the road to the Holiday Inn Express St Albans.
“They offered her a room for the night free of charge.”
Following the tweet, Herts fire chief Darryl Keen said: “Well done @StAlbansfire and well done the Holiday Inn Express St Albans - great public spirit.”
