A CYGNET tangled in a fishing line was stranded in the middle of a lake stuck on Friday evening.

Firefighters from St Albans were called to the Verulam Angling Club in Frogmore at around 6.30pm when the baby swan got caught in the fishing line.

On arrival they called on the assistance of the RSPCA, but the cygnet managed to free itself and swim away before their arrival.
