ST ALBANS: The city’s fire station is appealing for scrap cars so that firefighters can continue to practise their life-saving skills.

The crews say donations of old vehicles have decreased since the value of scrap metal has increased.

But the cars are used by the station for demonstrations and to practise their skills so they are ready for all eventualities.

While the station cannot collect the cars, they ask that anyone able to help them call the station on 01727 818919. All vehicles must have the appropriate paperwork which will need to be taken along with the car.
