SIXTY seconds is all it takes for a team of young St Albans film-makers to save the world.

Six children aged between four and 16, including pupils at Townsend, Loreto and Verulam Secondary Schools, have entered a short one-minute film, Stop Global War-MING!, into an international competition on climate change.

The team, who were brought together by FREdome, a trust which aims to tackle global issues, is currently winning the competition and if they maintain their lead, their film will premiere at the Copenhagen Climate Change Conference in December.

Greg Peachey, founder of FREdome Visionary Trust, said: "Can a group of young children save the world? Perhaps only they can see the simple truths. If our team wins the competition, their message will become a seed sown in the minds of the entire global competition, altering the course of global history."

He added: "Team FREdom stand a very good chance of winning the competition and putting St Albans youth on the world stage, but they need the public's support to stay ahead. So if you have just one minute to spare, log your online vote to support our hopeful and ambitious young team."

MP for St Albans Anne Main said she is fully behind team FREdome: "It's fantastic to see young people getting involved in important environmental issues. Everyone should be thinking about how we can save our planet and this young group is an inspiration to us all."
