FIREFIGHTERS from St Albans were called to the M1 motorway this week, after a bus caught fire on the southbound carriageway.
Crews arrived the scene, between junction six at Bricket Wood and junction five at Watford, shortly after 12.30pm on Wednesday. Appliances from Watford and Rickmansworth were also in attendance.
On arrival crews found the single-decker bus well alight on the hard shoulder.
Two hose reels and four sets of breathing apparatus were used to extinguish the blaze and no one was hurt during the incident.
The section of the motorway was closed by police while firefighters dealt with the incident, causing delays for motorists in the area.
