COUNCIL staff in St Albans weren’t content to just grow moustaches to mark Movember last month, but dyed them pink after donations from colleagues exceeded their original target.
Eight council officers challenged their colleagues to donate £150 by November 30 and promised that if they managed to raise the cash, they would dye their moustaches pink.
David Bennett, Doug Reiger, Paul Rooker, Bryan Padley, Terry Harris, Ruk Kariy, Phil Humphrey and Matt Barnes were all planning to grow moustaches for Movember, but once £200 was raised they knew they would have to follow through on their promise to go pink for the day.
The men used hair mascara to dye their moustaches, beards and – some of the more daring – hair, and during the day managed to get their colleagues to dig a little deeper into their pockets and raised even more cash.
Terry Harris said the day was a lot of fun and colleagues were very supportive of their efforts, raising £555 in total, which will go towards the Prostate Cancer Charity.
Throughout November, men up and down the UK grew moustaches to raise money and awareness for the Prostate Cancer Charity.
