Six hundred people ate together at the St Albans Big Iftar on Saturday, May 18.

The Adda Club, an organisation focused on promoting Bangladeshi culture and language, organised the event with faith groups from across the city. The get together on Fleetville recreation ground was planned as a way of helping the community learn more about each other.

Organiser, Monir Ali, said: "We are so proud of how the community has come together."

He also thanked a range of services such as Jamia Mosque, Hifz Class and St Albans council for providing support and a grant which paid for half of the event. Lots of activities were available to the diverse audience who attended including henna painting, face painting, singing, free dates, fruit and traditional food from a range of countries.
