LEGENDARY table tennis stars will be on hand to help a St Albans club encourage more people to take up the sport this Sunday.
Desmond Douglas (pictured), who was once ranked seventh in the world thus achieving the highest ranking ever held by an English player, and John Hilton, the only British player to win a European title, will be joined by two other players from the England squad at the event.
The Sandridgebury Lane Table Tennis Coaching Club (SLTTCC) is staging the free “Try Table Tennis Exhbition and Coaching Day” to show how much fun the sport can be and demonstrate how it can help people keep fit. The first part of the day, 10am-1pm, will be open to all ages and give them a chance to try the sport and the latter part of the day, 1pm to 4.15pm, will be junior training for under 19s only.
The club say it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see such top-class sportsmen and all playing levels will be catered for.
