The Herts Advertiser crew was given the chance to see from the top of St Albans Clock Tower, using virtual reality.
It was all thanks to the kind folks at St Albans and Hertfordshire Architectural and Archaeological Society, the St Albans Civic Society, and developers Rewind.
Over 300 visitors to the Clock Tower over the weekend of the St Albans Film Festival were given a go with the virtual reality headset.
The first six visitors were even given a free cardboard virtual reality kit.
Once the headset was on, visitors could see a 360 degree view of St Albans from the top of the tower, helped along by narration and annotations.
After trying it out, Herts Advertiser reporter Franki Berry said: “It is really realistic.”
Group editor Matt Adams said: “It is weird not being able to see your own body!”
The Clock Tower is open every Saturday, Sunday and bank holiday from 10.30am to 5pm until the end of September.
