The design charrette for St Albans Civic Centre has been shortlisted for a national award.
The masterplan for the site - which includes Hertfordshire House, the NHS health centre, and the old police station in Bricket Road and Victoria Street - was entered into the RTPI (Royal Town Planning Institute) East of England Awards for Planning Excellence 2017 by Look! St Albans; ImaginePlaces Ltd; and St Albans City Centre Opportunity Site (CCOS) Development Partnership.
Members of the public were invited to contribute to the design process for the civic centre site through a design charrette initiated last September, with the feedback received incorporated as part of the scheme. The winners of the award will be announced on Friday at an awards dinner at Girton College, Cambridge.
Look St Albans! has also been shortlisted as a finalist in the corporate social responsibility category of the St Albans Chamber of Commerce Community Business Awards, which take place next week at Club Batchwood.
