St Albans City Youth coaches to carry Paralympic Torch

FIVE football coaches who teach children with special needs were getting ready to put on their tracksuits and run with the Paralympic flame through the streets of London yesterday. (wed)
The team of men volunteer at St Albans City Youth Football Club and were chosen for the honour because of their contribution to community sport.
The torchbearers, who have special needs or physical disabilities, will each carry the flame for 100m as part of the 24-hour relay that starts in Stoke Mandeville and finishes at the Olympic Park.
Trustee Mervyn Morgan said: “It is a great honour for the club and a recognition of the work they do as volunteers in the community.”
St Albans City Youth FC provides football coaching to children of all abilities aged between six and 18 years old.
