A thousand people are pumping their pedals in preparation for the 2016 St Albans Charity Cycle Ride (SACCR) this Sunday. (15)
The annual ride will take riders through the Herts countryside and is to raise money for three different causes - Macmillan Nurses, Medical Detection Dogs and The Daylight Club in St Albans.
The ride offers four different routes, which range between 10 and 40 miles, and it begins at Oaklands College in Hatfield Road.
Norman Fennell, secretary of the Charity Cycle Ride, said: “Obviously we hope to raise as much as possible.
“We usually raise between £25,000 - £35,000 per year and altogether we have raised over half a million pounds in the 21 years we have been running the event.
“We are hoping for a sunny day and many people to come and enjoy themselves.”
Those taking part will be given a SACCR T-shirt and a rider number bib and are expected to check in before 10.30am.
