Baby colours will cloak St Albans Cathedral for a week in support of bereaved parents.
The Abbey will be illuminated pink and blue during Baby Loss Awareness Week 2018 in order to raise awareness of miscarriage and young death.
Dean of St Albans Jeffrey John said: “We hope that the illumination will raise awareness of the often hidden and silent pain caused by the loss of an unborn baby, and be a reminder of God’s care for all human life and suffering.
“We hope too that it may help bereaved parents locally to share their experiences and find mutual support”.
Chief executive of charity SANDS (stillbirth and neonatal death), Dr Clea Harmer, said she hopes the event will help bereaved families feel less isolated and alone in their grief.
She said: “It is devastating for parents and families and it’s vital they get the bereavement support and care they need, for as long as they need it.”
Baby Loss Awareness Week runs from October 9 to 15.
