St Albans Cathedral has donated proceeds from the Fireworks Spectacular in Verulamium Park to its chosen charities.
The Dean of St Albans, Rev’d Dr Jeffrey John and Paul Dean, chair of the Cathedral Fireworks Team, presented representatives from both charities with donations on Sunday, January 28. The money was divided between Earthworks St Albans, which offers those with learning disabilities and mental health conditions training in horticulture, and Waverley Driving Group RDA, which provides carriage driving as part of Riding for the Disabled.
Maureen Keegan, chair of the Driving Group, said: “It will make a huge difference to the group and will help towards the cost of providing a new turnout (pony, horse and carriage).”
Meanwhile Stephen Pike, joint project leader for Earthworks, said: “[The donation] will provide us with a protected and private workspace.”
