LOYAL Dusty Springfield fans have donated 250 to help maintain a charity's new cat pen in the name of their idol.
The fan club of the late 1960s singer, who had a great love of animals, regularly raises money to donate to the causes they feel she would have supported.
They regularly give to animal welfare societies and shelters anonymously but cats in particular held a special place in Dusty's heart.
Because of this, the fan club donated funds to the St Albans branch of Cats Protection which will help it maintain the new Dusty Springfield Pen.

The club recently unveiled the pen officially and brought with them a special plaque and a photo of Dusty, before praising the branch for all its cat rescue work
Branch co-ordinator Jean Thompson (pictured) said "We are very grateful to the Dusty Springfield Fan Club for choosing our branch of Cats Protection to receive their donation towards this new pen and are delighted to accept their plaque and photo to display in the pen. The pen will be put to very good use, sheltering unwanted and abandoned cats and kittens and keeping them warm and dry."
