Two St Albans care home residents were made to feel like royalty at celebrations for their hundredth birthdays.
Louise Hughes and Winnie Jeffs both celebrated their centenaries at Grace Muriel House on Friday, December 15.
Winn said: “I feel like the Queen!”
Louise said: “The party was a wonderful surprise.”
A retired teacher, Louise said she enjoyed a simple life and had found teaching rewarding, getting as much from the children as they got from her.
Winn started in needlework, before helping build Mosquito airplanes at de Havilland during the War, and later worked at the Abbey bookshop.
Family members joined the pair for Champagne and the two were presented with flowers and a cake each.
Staff had decorated the lounge with banners and balloons, and residents and family members enjoyed a spread of food.
