IT was a case of being torn off a strip or two for local businessman Alastair Woodgate when he underwent a body wax in aid of Grove House.

The owner of St Albans-based chartered surveyors and estate agents Rumball Sedgwick raised £1,200 for the hospice and The Prince’s Trust when he went to the appropriately named Wax Bar in Waxhouse Gate.

Alastair, who is also a director of St Albans District Chamber of Commerce, said: “I can’t say it’s an experience I’d want to repeat too often but I’m delighted that I’ve been able to support two great organisations.”

He thanked Sandra Oldfield of ILM Designs for organising the event and Kamillo and staff at the Wax Bar and Heather and Anisha of The Cove Spa, St Albans, for giving up their time and expertise.

He added: “I also want to say a big thank you to business colleagues and to friends for sponsoring me so generously, and to Liz Hizli of Grove House and those who came along to witness the event.”
