A St Albans Brownie pack held a tea party to celebrate the centenary of women’s suffrage.
To mark the anniversary of the Representation of the People Act 1918, the 1st St Albans Brownies signed up to EqualiTea, a programme of political-themed tea parties held between June 18 and July 2.
Liz McCann, women’s officer for St Albans Labour Party, and Caroline Brooke, the Lib Dem district councillor for Clarence ward, visited the Brownies to discuss two issues selected by the Brownies themselves: ‘I want to live in a world where women and girls don’t feel they have to worry about the way they look’, and ‘I want to live in a world where there is no bullying’.
Brown Owl Lucy Davies said: “Liz and Caroline were wonderful guests and engaged the Brownies in the discussion and their views on how the Government may be able to get involved in these issues.”
The 1st St Albans Brownie Pack celebrated its 100th anniversary in March.
