CITRAHIT reached the spot with the jury when it was entered for a beer and cider festival –because it won the top prize.

The beer brewed by Kevin Yelland, chief brewer at the Verulam Brewery based at The Farmers Boy in London Road, St Albans, was the winner at the Luton Beer and Cider Festival, seeing off competition from around 140 other varieties of beers.

Kevin received his award from Mike Coombes of Luton CAMRA – Campaign for Real Ale – for the beer which was brewed in the only micro-brewery in St Albans.

CitraHit, which was up against another beer with the similar name of Citra produced by Oakhams Ales, is on sale at various locations.
