IF having a local businesswoman in The Apprentice was not enough, tonight’s show will see some of the candidates flog their own concoction of beer at last year’s St Albans Beer Festival.

During the second episode, which is on BBC One at 9pm, the hopefuls are asked to produce, brand and sell their own flavoured beer.

After brewing their new tipple team ‘Endeavour’ and Lord Sugar’s aide Nick Hewer head to the annual St Albans Beer Festival, which was held at the Alban Arena in September, to try and drum up some trade.

Sadly Luisa Zissman, who owns several baking businesses in St Albans, missed out on returning to home turf as her team ‘Evolve’ chose to set up stall at another beer festival in Putney.

John Bishop, spokesperson for CAMRA who organised the festival, said: “We were delighted to have them [the candidates] at the beer festival, it was great to see them there and I hope they learnt a bit more about the brewing industry. It is always great to have a local angle on a national show.”

This year’s St Albans Beer Festival takes place between September 25-28.
