An artist who appeared on TV in a prestigious national competition will be exhibited in St Albans, his hometown.

Dave Nelson took part the Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year 2017, creating in just four hours a scenery of fisherman huts in Paddy’s Hole near Redcar.

He will be exhibited in the St Albans Art Society Summer Exhibition along about 250 other pieces at the Dagnall Street Baptist Church hall.

Artwork on display will include landscapes, still life, portraits, and views of the city.

Visitors can vote for their favourite piece and the winner will be presented with the Terry Biggs Cup.

It has been primarily organised by Janet King and Janet Blackham.

The society’s chairman, Edward Bevin, said: “The exhibition plays a major role in enhancing the cultural life of St Albans, and has been proud to demonstrate this through the use of oil, acrylic and water colour for more than 125 years.”

It runs from July 25 to 28 from 10am to 6pm. Entry is free.
