St Albans and Harpenden residents receive New Year’s Honours

SEVERAL people across St Albans, Harpenden and Radlett are ringing in the New Year after being named on the Queen’s honours list.

Those recognised for their services included the Headmistress of Watford Grammar School for Girls Helen Hyde, of Radlett, who received a DBE for services to education.

David Goldstone of St Albans, was awarded a CBE for his financial administration work for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic games.

Edmund Mervyn Bellamy King, also of St Albans, was given an MBE for services to the British Library after serving as the Head of the Newspaper Collection.

Others on the list from St Albans included Mervyn Richards who received an OBE for services to Building Information Modelling and to the construction industry.

Yvonne Carson, Secretary for the House of the Commons, of St Albans, was awarded a British Empire Medal for services to Parliament and the Commonwealth.

Deborah Jill Fensome from Harpenden received an MBE for services to the community.
