St Albans accountants raise money to help people with autism

Every year in April HK Accountancy Services in Spicer Street recognises Autism Awareness Month by fundraising for charities which support families with children on the autistic spectrum.

This year they chose to support the ADD-Vance ADHD and Autism Trust, which offers support and training to professionals, parents and carers of ASD (Austism Spectrum Disorder) children, and raised £788.30.

The company held a cake sale at the St Albans Businesses Jelly on Friday, April 21, which is a networking event at the King Harry Pub, and organised a month-long raffle with prizes donated by local businesses.

Both Hannah Knight, the principle accountant, and bookkeeper Caroline Stacey have children on the spectrum.

They said: “From personal experience, we know just how lonely and scary it can be raising a child on the spectrum but knowing there are charities like the ADD-Vance ADHD and Autism Trust make the challenges we face a little bit easier to manage.

“We cannot express our thanks loudly or widely enough to every single person or business that has supported our fundraising efforts this year. From buying a raffle ticket or piece of cake to donating a prize or your time, thank you.

“Our particular thanks go to the businesses that donated the raffle prizes. Without them our efforts wouldn’t have been such a success.”
