More than 100 people visited St Albans Cathedral for the first angel-themed discovery morning of the summer holidays.

Last week’s event gave the children an opportunity to collect stars by pursuing some of the 200 angels which were hidden all over the Cathedral.

During the morning, Herts Lord Lieutenant Lady Verulam placed the 100th angel on the special ‘Angel Cloud’ which has been installed in the Cathedral as a public appeal for its development project – Alban, Britain’s First Saint.

The giant Alban Angel which the children also helped to create is currently on display on the building.

Alex Gibson, who attended with her three young sons, said: “It was really well done and kept them interested right the way through. The volunteers and guides were excellent, really helpful and friendly.”

The Alban, Britain’s First Saint scheme involves the building of a new welcome centre, learning centre and telling of Alban’s story, along with improved factilites and access for visitors.
