A FREE mobile service for people suffering from hearing loss has been launched by the Herts Hearing Advisory Service (HHAS).

It provides advice and support to people affected by hearing loss as well as basic hearing-aid maintenance and new batteries.

The mobile service makes monthly visits to local venues and can be found at the Principal Health Centre in Civic Close, St Albans, between 9.30am and 12.30pm on the fourth Thursday of the month and at Harpenden Public Halls in Southdown Road between 2pm and 3.30pm on the same day.

In the past the charity ran its mobile service from on board a van. But when the van broke down last year HHAS could not afford to replace it so bought a smaller van instead and runs the service from existing health-related or community venues.
