A FAMILY who say they’re St Albans “through and through” have welcomed a new arrival far from home.

Alison and Kevin Donovan are currently living in Dhekelia in Cyprus where Kevin is stationed with the 2nd Battalion The Royal Anglian Regiment, ‘The Poachers’, and in November they welcomed their baby daughter.

In a tribute to the place they love and miss the couple, who were born and raised in St Albans, decided to name their daughter Albany after their home.

The couple say they are delighted with the new addition to their family and further strengthening their links to St Albans even though they can’t live here at the present time.

Alison said: “There are pros and cons to living out here and the weather is most definitely one of the pros but we do miss our family and friends and even the simple joys of being able to shop in a supermarket.”

Kevin, 27, and Alison, 28, have been together for almost 12 years after meeting while revising for their GCSEs in Clarence Park.

Before living in Cyprus, they lived in Germany where Kevin was posted and while he was there he completed a tour of duty in Iraq. This year Kevin is due to go to Afghanistan.
