TRAVEL company boss Manny Fontenala-Novoa found himself whipped into shape when he sampled life as a slave for a day. The Thomas Cook chief executive's services were auctioned at a charity event in aid of the Variety Club. Mrs Jenny Cummins, manager of the St Albans branch of Thomas Cook in St Peter's Street, bid £200 for him and won. Cakes She said: "We had recently raised £700 at a charity event for the Variety Club, the firm's pet charity, and decided to use some of the money to support another branch's effort." Some of the staff expressed a desire to have him clean their cars on the day but Mrs Cummins had to veto this idea. She said: "Manny would have got his suit dirty so instead he made us cups of coffee and bought us cakes and spent the time greeting customers and putting stickers on brochures. He is a people person and is very approachable so was a pleasure to have around.
