St Albans has featured in the latest series of BBC thriller Silent Witness, after one of the city’s most historic streets was turned into a crime scene for filming.
Award-winning actress Emilia Fox and David Caves, acting as forensic experts in the popular series, were last year filmed at the bottom of Fishpool Street, near St Michael’s Manor Hotel.
Scenes shot in St Albans were aired in last week’s episodes of the two-part “Commodity”, in the 17th series of the show.
It features a top-flight footballer Isaac Dreyfus (Hugo Becker) whose days at the top of the sport are numbered when a sex tape links him to the brutal murder of a young woman.
A spokeswoman for the BBC said filming took place outside Bank House, at 122 Fishpool Street.
She explained: “We used the office exterior there as the exterior to Mousa Rashid’s (Ace Bhatti) office.”
Mousa is Isaac’s sports agent, and the scenes show the Premiership footballer walking to the office, and being recognised by fans in the street.

Then in a scene based on the aftermath of an explosion in the office, there are emergency services in the area and Emilia, David and other characters are shown talking about the case.
When the Herts Ad visited Fishpool Street on the day of filming, about 80 people were at the set, and local fans were stopping to watch the unfolding action.
Among those in the crew were representatives of a Dagenham based company which supplied props from the latest James Bond 007 Skyfall movie - a Kia Optima and Kia Sorento - for Silent Witness.
The first episode of “Commodity” was seen by 6.1 million viewers last Thursday (2) while the second episode drew in 6.2 million viewers, winning last Friday’s (3) 9pm time slot.
If you missed seeing the episodes, they are available on the BBC’s iPlayer for another four weeks.
